H&M Summer nails - Metallic blue (Havana Dreams)

This is the blue one from H&Ms summer nails minisett. I haven't gotten around to swatching any of them jet, but here is the first one.
First things first, this is NOT a metallic blue, it's a glitter. A pretty sheer glitter too. Way to weak to wear alone. Now you would think 4 coats of glitter would give you hell when trying to remove it, but it wasn't that bad actually.
Here is a picture of 4 coats with no basecolor:

See what I mean? Sure, if you like having your visible nail showing then you may like it, but it's too weak for me. So instead I used it over Sephora by OPI - Havana Dreams and the combintation is amazing! I just love it!
Two coats of Havana Dreams and one coat Metallic Blue gives an amazing skyblue glitter polish. Maybe I'll make a franken of it?

The color gives me associtations to angels in some way. It looks so innocent and sweet...

Nailpolish is useful, in many ways

This is a post to show that nailpolish can be used for other things than just to make your nails beautiful or ful of art.

Me and my classmate have the keys to eachothers locker, so if I forget my keys at home she can open my locker and opposite. Now these keys look almost exactly the same so to keep them apart I painted the top of the keys in different colors, with nailpolish.

For my own key I used Viva la Diva # 114 and Nfu oh #51 and for my friendskey I used Spehora by OPI - Havana Dreams and Nfu oh #54.

This is a great way to mark your keys or to just make them more fashionable. Of course you can also paint other things like your cellphone, cardholder and Ipod.

Love and Beauty - Chocolate Mint

I Bought this Polish at Forever 21 in San Fransisco for about 1 dollar, so needless to say the quality wasn't great. The formula was really sheer and after using 4 coats it was still not opaque. Well, I liked the color, but it was not great alone. So I made a french tip with Gosh - Black Passion. Both Black Passion and Chocolate Mint have the same shimmer, so they went well together. I think this will be good as an effect topcoat!
Since I used 4 coats it dried reeally slowly.. Gah.
After wearing Chocolate Mint for a couple of hours I leand my head on my hand and suddenly I smelt something minty. I realized it was my nailpolish and that it was scented! Haha, I was really schocked actually! But when I looked at the bottle it said SCENTED in big letters so that probably shows how inattentive I can be.
The color is a light green with a hint of brown glitters in it, and the color really says Chocolate Mint. But with the extra scent you actually want to eat it!

Some new items

I went by Vita today and they had a sale on all gosh items. Nail polish for 55 kroners, so I picked up two new. Gasoline and Peachy. I also bought a nailpolish removal pen, acetonfree. I've been wanting one of these for ages. It's pocket size, wich I think is weird, 'cos who needs a correction pen in their pocket? I usually polish and clean my nails at home...

I also got a package today! Isadora said they wanted to sponsor my giveaway so I got loads of polishes to giveaway! I'm really happy, and I hope you guys are 'cus my giveaway is gonna be ready next week! With at least three prizes!

Crackle Spots

I'm still trying to use crackle in as many ways as possible now, so I won't get completely sick of it. So today I tried to make dots with crackle. I wasn't sure if they were going to hold their shape, but they did! And the result is really cool!

A closeup on the spots
When you make this design it's important to use a new crackle polish. After you have used one a couple of times it turns pretty thick and gets harder to work with. So one you have never used or only once is the best. I used my new H&M crackle, that I've used once. Then I used used a dotting tool as usual, and there you go! Just make the dots big enough, or else they won't crackle as much.
My basecolor is OPI - Be a Dahlia Won't you

OPI - Be a Dahlia Won't You

This is one of the lacquers from OPIs summer collection Nice Stems. I've never been a big fan of pink polishes, but this is a great color. I think that if you like pink and wear it often, this will be a biggie with you!
The color is a strong pink with loads of pink shimmer. The shimmer shines light blue in certain lights, but all in all it is a warm color. I am kinda late showing of this in August, but better late than never. I actually think this is going to be a good winter color!
Now Pictures! Three coats on the pictures

In daylight

In the shade

With blitz

A closeup

The lacquer is a little sheer so I needed three coats, but everything else is great. It dries really quickly! It looks almost metallic becaus of all the shimmer, and I love it!
Do you have any of the Nice Stems colors?
Do you like pink?

Have a great weekend everybody!

H&M Duo - Dusty Nails

This was the duopolish I was looking the most forward to. It consists of a light gray and a dirty light pink. The gray has a lot of pink tones in it and the pink has gray tones. A perfect combo if you ask me.

Here is a combination of the two colors

The formula is great and I had no problems with the application. The only negative thing is that the brush if very small. Much smaler than the normal HM brushes. Another thing is that you really need to use a top coat with this one. Or else it will chip off in no time. I tried wearing it without a top coat, by the end of the day almost half of the color was gone from my nails!
But I must say I like it alot, and I believe it's a must in every nailpolish collection!

Double Crackle H&M and Layla

I must admit that I'm prety fed up with the whole crackle/grafitti nail business. So I'm trying to figure out how to make it a little mor exciting to use the crackles. Yea, I know that you can use the brush sideways and diagonal, but that's not enough.
So today I tried using two different crackles over eachother. The new black crackle from H&M and a sprakling turquoise from Layla.
Working very fast I first used the turquoise one and before it had dried completely I took a coat of the black one over.
I used a pretty neutral basecolor, China Glaze - Exceptionally gifted (swatch is coming)

Detail
I'm not completely sure what I think about the result... It's different, that's for sure. It would be cool to try it with black and red I think. And the next thing I'll try with the crackle is to make polkadots, that's gonna be fun!

What do you think of the double crackle?
Do you have any ideas of using the crackle polish?

Peacock Design

Todays design is inspired by peacock feathersPeacock Feathers Lovely

I think I made the dots a little too small, and it would have looked better if they were bigger. But that's just the way it is, and if i maybe make it again someday then I can make them bigger! It's not that easy to see, but the inner circle is not completely round. The shape is the same as real peacock feathers.
Used a dottingtool to make the design

Detail
The colors is used are: Revlon - Emerald City, Isadora - Gold sparkles, HM - Blue my mind and Depend - 228
My design in inspired by this video by Cutepolish:

What do you think?
Are you going to make peacock nails?

Revlon - Emerald City Matte Suede

This is a gorguesse dark green with loads of shimmer in it. It finishes matte, but I used Isadora - Clear top coat to make it shiny. I liked it shiny much better than matte.
It's really opaque and covers well in two coats. The formula is perfect and it dries fast!

When I swatched this it was a gray sky, so I didn't realize how beautiful it was in sunlight. When the sun came out I had already made a design over it... So I'll have to repost this entry with an update on the photos, but for now you can look at these ones!

Matte finish:

Shiny finish:

Detail:
The tiny glitters are amazing and I love it! I think this is a dupe though, of OPIs - Here today Aragorn tomorrow, which you can see a swatch of here. But that doesn't make it any less gorguesse! I'll be wearing this alot, it will be perfect for around christmas!
I also love the name, Emerald City!

The updated post with more pictures will be here as fast as I can!

Essie - Wild Thing

I bought this at a two-for-one sale at a hair salon not long ago. The bottle caught my eye right away. I like Essie a lot, but it's really expensive in Norway so I don't normaly buy it. But on a sale like this I had to buy two of course! One bottle of Essie costs 139 - nok, but here I got two for 139, no bad deal!

Three coats, shade

Three coats, daylight
I totally love this color! A deep berryred with sparkly glitters. The formula was a little thin so I had to use three coats, but other than that I can't find anything negative about it!
This is a great color for the autumn and I'm sure I'll be wearing it alot! If there is still a sale at the hair salon all you Norwegians should go and get some essie! It is at the bottom floor in Oslo City and called Nikita.

# Do you love Essie or this color?
# What is your favorite autumn color?

Candy polkadots

I made these pink polkadots on a mintgreen background and they kinda remind me of candy colors. I love this colorcombination, and I will probably make the same theme only in stripes.
These days are really bad for swatching, 'cus there is really no sunlight at all. Only rain and grey clouds. I try to paint my nails in happy colors to combensate for the bad weather though.
Like these candy-like colors?

Anchor Nails

I love anything sailor-y, so todays nails are some anchors. White, red and grey are always good combinations and this time was not an exception. Used a manicure brush and a dotting tool, easy as that...

Next I wanna make some galaxy nails I think, but I may wait a while longer. So many supercool designs I wanna try!! What to choose?

Home - Again

Okey, so I promissed to start blogging as usual again and this time I'm not lying. 'cus now I'm done with all traveling and I'm not going away for a while. Hope you all had a good summer, I sure did!
And for keeping you waited for so long I should have showed you something really awesome, but I haven't swatched anything superduper awesome lately so you'll just have to see the first half of the Golden nails duo sett from H&M. I'm going to show them both in a later post, but this will have to do for now:

Simply a perfect purple, what more can I say?

Todays purchase

Right now there is a sale at a hair salon on the bottom floor at Oslo City, two for one on a bunch of Essie lacquers. I picked up Wild Thing and Rose Bowl. I also went to H&M and bought all 3 new duos, one of the summer mini sets and a crackle polish. They all look great so this is a gonna be loads of fun!
I've tried already swatched the dark purple in one of the duos and you'll see it later today!

Heart Nails

Todays design are hearts that fill the whole nail. I can't say I'm 100% pleased with the result, but they are still cute. I used a thin brush to make the design. The color in the hearts is Nicole by OPI - Berry Sweet and the outlining is OPI - Quarter of a cent cherry.

A fast and easy design today. I'm leaving for Italy in Monday and coming home on Friday so there won't be any blogging that week. When I'm home I'm gonna start planing my giveaway at the end of the month!

Friday 5 August 2011

New H&M Lacquers

Today I saw that the new HM duo polishes had just reached the stores, so tomorrow I'm going down and buying them pluss the new HM crackle polish. I'm really looking forward to trying the duopolishes, they all look so great!

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors

So the hottest word in the nail polish world right now is that Nicole by OPI is teaming up with the Kardashian family. Personaly I've never been a fan of the family and I must say they all seem like a gang of nutjobs. I've never liked reality TV. But here is the new collection:

Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi And this captivating coral looks “fab” on everyone!

OPI Manicure and Pedicure massage lotion

This little handy bag of four small bottles of skin moisturizing was picked up at a beauty parlor in the U.S. There are four scents white tea, cucumber, tropical citrus and papaya pineapple. I haven't tried them all, but my favorite so far is white tea.

This is a manicure and pedicure lotion so it's great for both feet and hands. I get hard and dry skin on my feet very easy and using this feels really good. It's not too "wet", as when you use a lotion and it doesn't feel like it's being absorbed at all. This lotion gets absorbed into you're feet really fast and leave a clean, soft and nice scented result. Feeling ashamed by your feet? Now is the time to stop! By using a great moisturizer like this combined with a pretty nail polish you can get your feet out of those socks!

I have four so i won't be needing them all. I'm gonna give one away in a giveaway soon, so stay tuned!

Small Cherries

As soon as I saw this supercute design by the amazing Cutepolish I had to make it myself. Cherries are one of my favoritte designs and I would like everything to be in cherries! Cherry dress, cherry ear rings, cherry belts and cherry nails!

So of course I had to copy this! This design is perfect for summer and it will for sure give you attention in any happening. If you think it's to much with the design on all five nails you could make it on the index finger only and leave the others white. And it's super easy! Just use the big end of a dotting tool to make the cherries and the small end to make the stams and the white highlight.

Do you guys love cherries as much as me?
Anyone gonna make this lovely summerdesign?

Sephora by OPI - Havana Dreams

So, the plan was to start blogging again now that I'm home, but I've been really ill the last week so I haven't had the energy. But it feels like I'm getting better now so hopefully I'll be writing more soon.

Todays polish is also a new brand to me. I've never tried Sephora by OPI before, but I gotta say that I kinda knew that it would be a geat brand.
Havana Dreams is a skyblue creme which looks lovely in the summer. It's great as a basecolor for naildesigns, and nice by itself if you want something light and easy.
The consistence was a little hard to work with and you need about three coats to get it smooth and even. Since the formula is kinda thick it's easy spill some polish over your fingers, therefor a cleanup afterwards is necessary. I like to use a cheap, little, flat brush you can buy in most stores and dip it in nailpolish remover for my clean up.

Havana Dreams in direct sunlight

Havana Dreams in the shade

I love this blue, and I love Sephora. Next I'll be showing Sephoras Mermaid to order, which is quite a different color.
