Pumpkin Nails

You cant' celebrate halloween without some real pumpkin nail art! So while wearing Linda Johansen - Pumpkin Pie as a basecolor I made five different pumpkin faces on my nails.

I took on the top coat to fast so I smeard my design, but hey, it's halloween so it's kinda cool!

#Have you made pumpkin-nails for halloween?

Linda Johansen Nail Candy - Pumpkin Pie

A bunch of Norwegian nailblogers have been posting about this new brand lately, and today I got mine in the mail! It seemd to me that everybody chose colors like Mardi Gras and Razzle Dazzle, so I chose one I hadn't seen any swatches off, Pumpkin Pie! Along with this I got the color Ballerina, a Lip balm and a body scrub and body butter, yum! Reviews coming soon!

First some info on Nail Candy:
Nail Candy is a healthier alternative, free from toxins such as formaldehyd, tolulene and dibutyl. There are are a couple of toxin free brands like Zoya and Nubar (see a list here), but this is the first norwegian one!
These toxins are both dangerous for the environment and you, especially if your pregnant! The best thing is that taking these substances away will not have an effect on the formula of the polish, it's still great!
The bottles contain 11 ml of polish and cost 139 NOK, they can be bought HERE

All 12 colors

And now, over to my polish, Pumpkin Pie!

This is a pretty orange with golden shimmer. It's not metallic, only a strong shimmer. You knoe how oranges tend to be very neon, strong anf fussy? Well this is more of a mellow orange. It's rather calming to look at actually.  I think maybe the reason I choose this one was the name, I totally fell for it! But the color was worth it, it's great.

Speedy top coat makes it dry very fast! Will make a post about this top coat only, it will be to much to put it in here!

The brush is great. It's small and flat, and spreads out great when applying polish! See the photo for comparison with Essie and OPI brushes.

All in all I'm pretty pleased with the brand. Okey, pretty pleased would be and understatement, I'm extremly happy with it! I've already started to try out the body products and they seem so nice!
Linda Johansen definitely gets two thumbs up from me!

Here are some other swatches of Linda Johansen from other blogers:

Orly - Fowl Play

This beauty is from Orlys Birds of a Feather collection. I got this one and Sweet Peacock from the collection, and everywhere I've read about it they say that this is the star of the bunch.
And they are right, it sure is beautiful.

It's a bunch of duochrome flakies in a sheer darkpurple base. It reminds me a lot of Nfu Oh #51.  In the bottle I can see both yellow and green, but unfortunately only the yellow shows on the nail, no green. Along with the flakis it also has small blue glitters.

This one was on the thin side, so needed three coats, but thats opaque enough. It dried very quickly.

Very happy with Fowl play! Will be wearing it a lot.

OPI - Zom-body To Love

Even though it's old news for a couple of you, it doesn't make it any less awesome! Glow in the dark nailpolish, hello? How super cool isn't that?
Both OPI and China Glazes halloween collections this year consists of a glow-in-the-dark polish. I think China Glaze - Ghoulish Glow is pretty much transparent, and OPIs - Zom-body to love is more greenish. And I do love a good green so this is the one that cought my eye.

The color alone is pretty cool. Very apple-green. But it's ridiculous sheer, not ment to be worn alone in other words. It's like 5 coats on these photos. But I love the color so much!

Beside it being too sheer, it has little corns in it, the glow in the dark particles. I actually think it's a pretty cool effect.
I didn't take any pictures of it glowing in the dark by itself. On these photos it's layerd over my purple spiderwebs. Very cool effect!

Haha, I had major problems photographing these nails!

# Have you gotten any glow in the dark polishes for this halloween?

Purple Spiderwebs!

My original idea was to make a rainbow-spiderweb design. But it was a total fail, and I abandoned the project! Decpite that, I'm happy with this result as well!
Basecolor is Viva la Diva 114, then sponged on with Orly - Au Champagne and Essence - Red-y to go.

Very easy to make, but it will still give your nails attention and gives the halloween costume and extra sparkle!

  # I'd love to see your halloween nails! Leave a link with your design, or send it to my email!

OPI Nicki Minaj Press Release

OPI Partners with Platinum Recording Artist Nicki Minaj to Launch Limited Edition Lacquers

OPI announces the launch of six new limited edition shades inspired by hip hop sensation Nicki Minaj, including a purple Shatter! Inspired by Minaj’s unique style, love of bright colors, and her debut album Pink Friday, the Nicki Minaj by OPI promotion will feature an array of bold hues, from neon lime green to pink.

“OPI is so excited to work with Nicki in releasing these six new nail lacquers,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Nicki has taken the hip hop world by storm, but her music is only part of the equation. She’s also become a fashion inspiration, noted for her daring costumes and hair color both on and off the stage.”

Nicki’s eclectic look made including a new hue in OPI’s bestselling Shatter coat a must for this collaboration. The purple Super Bass Shatter (a record-setting purple that “shatters” before your eyes) is inspired by graffiti art and works when painted over any dry OPI hue. Adding top coat takes Super Bass Shatter from matte to glossy in seconds.

The line features five nail lacquers in addition to Super Bass Shatter, ranging from fantastic pink, rainbow confetti glitter and charcoal sparkle hues to two green shades in lime and teal:

Pink Friday
Kick off the weekend with this pop! of bubblegum pink.

Metallic 4 Life
This charcoal sparkle flies with the stars in the skies.

Save Me
I drove for miles just to find this silver-rainbow glitter.

Fly
I came to win, to fight…and to wear this aqua.

Did It On ‘Em
A lusty little lacquer that loves the “lime”-light.

Super Bass Shatter

I'm really excited about Did It On ‘Em, but I'll have to see some swatches of the others before I decide which of 'em I'll get!

One of my new Isadoras from Sweden. I'm not sure when this lacquer is from, but the bottle is of the old kind. Much wider.
This is a gorguesse blue shimmer. I would say it's more of a dark than light blue. But don't missunderstand me, it's not a compact dark blue.

Daylight
No problems with application, completely smooth as butter!

If you know when Bugatti Blue is from pleas tell me!
Do you own it?

Space nails: Galaxy!

My very first try on making galaxys on my nails! My inspiration picture was this:
Milky Way.
You've probably seen a bunch of galaxy nails, so I tried to make some that where a little different.. Maybe I failed a little, their not THAT unique... Oh, well.
Was going to make a tutorial, but forgott to take pictures during the whole process. I have pictures of the two first steps though, and they are the most important...
You need: -  A makeup sponge torn into small pieces.
 - A dotting tool or toothpick.
- Black, white, yellow, orange, pink purple flakies, dark blue and a glitter in a clear base.
Paint all your nails black. Make the form of your milky way with white polish and a small piece makeup sponge
Then use yellow and pink over the white. Concentrate it around the middle.
After this I used a darker orange and more pink here and there. Then I went around the whole form with a dark blue to blend it into the black. I also sponged on some various shades of purple and flakies over the black. And finish with a glitter in a clear base.
Make small and some bigger stars around the rest, and voila! You have your own galaxy.

Heres the list of what I used: Essie - Blanc, Midnight Cami and Licorice, Miliani - Digital,  Isadora - Mellow Yellow , China Glace - Papaya Punch, Exceptionaly gifted, Orly - Fowl Play, random pink glitter.

# Have you made Space nails before?
# Do you like my galaxies?

I'm back, with some new stuff

I'm back from Rome! My trip wasn't great, it was fine. I've been in Rome once before, and I gotta say: Italiens ain't my type of people. Nothing personal to any Italiens, but I just get a bad feeling when in Rome. Maybe it's just becaus of all the f****** tourists everywhere.
I went with my class, and we had a nice time together. I didn't buy any Collistar, but some other cheap polishes from the brand Essence. And on the airport I bought the lovely Peridot from Chanel(love!)

And on Saturday I went to Sweden to do some shopping. There I found a cosmeticstore selling cheap Isadora to 29 kroners. I picked up 5 Isadoras and a Color Club, Ruby slippers.

Black Galaxy is from the Red Rush Holiday collection, but the others are pretty old. The old Isadora bottles.

Anyway... I'll be back making more Halloween manis next week! So stay tuned, and polished.
